Membership of PIE is free of charge and it is available for editors-in-chief, editors, authors and peer-reviewers

Membership of PIE is free of charge and it is available for editors-in-chief, editors, authors and peer-reviewers. Furthermore, any editor-in-chief that signs up with PIE certifies that their journal will follow and comply with the highest ethical standards in the publication sector and within the PIE guidelines and recommendations. As soon as the editor-in-chief is accepted as a PIE member, their journal will be granted the PIE journal membership status.

Currently PIE does not offer membership to publishers. However publishers can select to be PIE adherents, if they wish. In this case, they can enjoy full access to PIE and its facilities. Becoming a PIE adherent publisher is free of charge.

Every publisher that chooses to be a PIE adherent agrees to offer support to PIE to promote and enhance publication integrity and ethics.

However, being adherent to PIE does not certify that a publisher follows the PIE guidelines and recommendations for ethical editorial conduct in a strictly formal manner. The status of adherent certifies that the publisher is aware of the guidelines and the code of conduct. Therefore if problems and errors occur during the publishing process, any individual is able to formulate complaints against the publisher and request that immediate corrections and retractions are instigated.

As full members of PIE, editors-in-chief, editors, peer-reviewers and authors have a duty to comply with the ethical rules of the publishing sector. Whereupon, they are aware of misconduct or errors, they will highlight these and request resolutions to be implemented in an expedient manner. Full members should follow the PIE guidelines and recommendations.
