Dr Jerjes has an interest in medical education and have been pursuing this for over a decade.
He regularly teaches medical students and supervises postgraduates undertaking MSc degrees.
Dr Jerjes holds a dental degree (BDS) and a medical degree (MBBS), a master’s degree (MSc) and two doctorates (MD (res) Surgery and a PhD).
He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators (FAcadMed), Member of Institute of Clinical Research (MICR) and Founding Member of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (MFMLM).
Dr Jerjes is a founding member of the Head and Neck Diagnostics Society (a UCLH-based registered research charity).
He has acted as a founding editor and editorial board member for a number of surgical and oncology journals.
Dr Jerjes has an extensive research portfolio (with over 150 publications, 20 book chapters and over 120 presentations in national and international meetings).
He has been working as a clinical academic rotating in several posts at University College London for nearly 10 years.
Waseem has received several prizes, grants and commendations from the British Association of Oral & maxillofacial Surgeons, British Medical Laser Association and Head & Neck Optical Diagnostics Society.
Dr Jerjes has received early postgraduate training in anaesthesia, intensive care medicine, cardiology, general medicine, stroke medicine and rehabilitation medicine.
His basic surgical training involved 18 months in Trauma & Orthopaedics and 6 months in General Surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
His training in oral and maxillofacial/head and neck surgery involved a year of clinical research fellowship, followed by two years of senior clinical research fellowships at University College London Hospitals.
He is also practicing in the field of forensic and legal medicine.
Dr Jerjes has great interest in research integrity, publication ethics, governance, management and leadership as well as the legal side of medicine.
He is also a member/supporter of HIFA, Doctors without Borders, Amnesty International UK, Human Rights Watch and Oxfam GB.
