Aims & Scope

First published in 1959, the BC Medical Journal is a general medical journal governed by an editorial board of physicians from numerous disciplines. It is the official publication of the British Columbia Medical Association. The BCMJ publishes high-quality clinical and review articles written primarily by BC physicians. Several times a year, we publish theme issues devoted to a particular discipline or disease entity. The journal also contains editorials, book reviews, and regular columns from the BC Centre for Disease Control, the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, and UBC medical students. A lively correspondence column and longer opinion pieces provide a forum for discussion of political as well as clinical issues of concern to the medical profession in British Columbia. The BCMJ makes a special effort to publish articles with a British Columbia slant--articles on rural medicine, for example, and on clinical problems encountered in the Pacific Northwest.
